      Amy Perry                                                                     Martin Bickerton

Martin Bickerton and Amy Perry are two exciting young guitarists based in the UK who met and formed the Astrum Guitar Duo during their undergraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. Their repertoire is wide-ranging, including music from the renaissance to the present day and covering a broad range of styles.

The duo frequently performs in music festivals throughout the UK, including the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Deal Music Festival, the Three Choirs Festival, the Whitworth Art Gallery Concert Series and the bi-annual Guitar Weekend at the Bridgewater Hall as well as the Cap Ferret Music Festival in France. The ensemble is also currently on the Live Music Now! and Music in Hospitals schemes. At present they are studying privately with Mark Eden from the Eden-Stell Guitar Duo as well as frequently receiving further private tuition in Naples from the Italian guitarist Edoardo Catemario.

Martin Bickerton studied at the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music and was then awarded a major entrance scholarship to the RNCM where he received a first class honours degree in July 2011.  Born in Southport, Martin started his musical life studying percussion and singing but at the age of 10 became inspired by the guitar. Martin Bickerton plays a 7 string guitar by the English luthier Stephen Hill.

Born in Ashford, Kent, Amy Perry recently finished her postgraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music under Craig Ogden and Gordon Crosskey. Prior to her studies at the RNCM, Amy attended the Junior Royal Academy of Music studying with Michael Lewin. Amy plays a 2007 Greg Smallman guitar.
