Amy Perry Martin Bickerton
Martin Bickerton and Amy Perry are two exciting young guitarists in the UK who met and formed the Astrum Guitar Duo during their undergraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Their repertoire is wide-ranging, including music from the renaissance to the present day and covering a broad range of styles. Since December 2009, the duo have been members of the Live Music Now! scheme.
Martin Bickerton studied at the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music and was then awarded a major entrance scholarship to the RNCM. He is currently in his final undergraduate year studying with Craig Ogden and Gordon Crosskey. Born in Southport, England in 1989, Martin started his musical life studying percussion and singing but at the age of 10 became inspired by the guitar. Martin Bickerton plays a 7 string guitar by the English luthier Stephen Hill.
Born in Ashford, Kent, Amy Perry is a postgraduate student at the Royal Northern College of Music where she also studies with Craig Ogden and Gordon Crosskey. Prior to her studies at the RNCM, Amy attended the Junior Royal Academy of Music studying with Michael Lewin. She has performed as soloist and chamber musician at venues around the UK and in France. Amy Perry plays a 2007 Greg Smallman guitar.
